Democrats Pelosi and Schumer Did Not Show Up To Meeting With President Trump

President Donald Trump was scheduled to meet with Nancy Pelosi  and Chuck Schumer to discuss negotiations about a spending package that would keep the government from shutting down. However, Pelosi and Schumer decided to not show up after Trump had made a tweet saying that he didn’t think that a deal would come about from the scheduled rendezvous.

Chuck Schumer is the Senate Minority Leader, and Nancy Pelosi is the House Minority Leader. Pelosi is a Democrat from California, and Schumer is a Democrat from New York.

President Trump said that there were a lot of differences between him and the two Democratic leaders, and he accused them of talking a lot but not acting. He went on to say that if there was a government shutdown, he would blame the Democrats.

Schumer and Pelosi said that they canceled their meeting with President Trump because they felt that it was a waste of time to talk to someone who they could not negotiate with. They made a resolution to talk to other Republican leaders who would be more likely to negotiate bipartisan agreements.

Earlier that same day, Trump had spoken about tax reform with Senate Republicans. As reporters spoke to Donald Trump, Ryan (a Republican from Wisconsin) and McConnell (a Republican from Kentucky) sat near him. However, there were two empty seats that Pelosi and Schumer would have sat at if they were there.

There is a picture showing the two empty seats next to President Trump. Pelosi and Schumer hope that this picture sends out a negative message about him. They hope to expose what they perceive as his habit of verbal abuse.

On the other hand, President Trump, Ryan and McConnell believe that the Democrats should have showed up to the meeting, and that by not showing up, they implied that they do not care about the affairs of the country. According to the opinions of the Republican leaders, the Democratic leaders should have had a better sense of courtesy.
