Keeping the weight off
Posted By admin on July 9, 2011
Lost 15 pounds and they snuck up on you after a few weeks. How in the world did that happen? Losing the weight was hard enough, but how do you keep it off? There has been some research done at Penn State and they have some techniques to keep the weight off.
Penn State surved about 1,100 people who lost significant amounts of weight. They had a list of questions that they asked people and how frequently they did each. For example, do you exercise at least 20 minutes a day (Frequently, often, seldom, and never).
The study found that people who lost weight did it by enrolling in a weight loss program, eating less sugars and carbs, eating healthy, and not skipping meals! – and exercise too.
Those who lost weight said that by switching weight loss programs helped them to lose weight faster; however, sticking to a consistent exercise routine helped to keep the weight off.
The four strategies with weight maintenance but not weight loss are the following:
Eating low-fat proteins
Exercising with a program consistently
Rewards for sticking to diet and exercising
Reminders about goals and why one wants to keep the weight off
Many nutritionists say that weight loss and maintenance follow the same principals; eat a healthy diet and increase exercise. People who eat healthy and exercise tend to be the people who keep their weight steady.
