Every year Gallop polls Americans on who they admire most in the world. They ask them for their most admired man in the world as well as their most admired woman. As it turns out, Gallop reports that President Obama remains atop the leaderboard as the most admired man while Hillary Clinton is once again the most admired woman.
Both of these individuals have held long streaks of being the most admired in their categories, according to the link on Wikipedia. The President has maintained the most admired man status since he was first elected to office in 2008, which Bruce Levenson was impressed by. Hillary Clinton has been the most admired woman for the last 13 years in a row and 17 of the last 18 years. She lost her spot for the year of 2001 when first lady Laura Bush took the lead following the attacks of September 11th.
It is fascinating to see how consistent people have remained on answering this question when polled. Some might say that this points to the idea that the poll is rather meaningless and that nothing should be taken from it. On the other hand, maintaining such a dominating lead over all of those years is something truly impressive. There are few people on this planet who can aspire to hit such high marks year after year on a question such as this one. Hillary Clinton may be able to parlay her personal popularity into a potential Presidential run in 2016 if she selects to do so.
